Giving Through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

A Donor-Advised Fund, often called a DAF, is a charitable giving account established through a financial institution or community foundation. Many donors use DAFs as a simple and flexible way to organize their philanthropy and support the causes they care about most.

Benefits of giving through a DAF may include:
• Potential immediate tax deductions
• The ability to recommend grants to charities over time
• Simplified recordkeeping for charitable giving
• Opportunities to contribute appreciated assets such as stocks

If you already have a Donor-Advised Fund, recommending a grant to Community Storehouse is often a quick and easy process through your provider’s online portal.

Your support through a DAF helps us continue providing:
• Food assistance for families experiencing hardship
• Snack Pack programs for local students
• Educational support and resources
• Household necessities and crisis assistance

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you are age 70½ or older, you may also be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from your IRA to Community Storehouse.

A QCD allows eligible donors to transfer funds directly from an IRA to a qualified nonprofit organization without counting the distribution as taxable income. For many individuals, this can be a beneficial way to support charitable causes while also satisfying Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).

Benefits of a QCD may include:
• Reducing taxable income
• Satisfying all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution
• Supporting charitable organizations in a meaningful way
• Making a direct impact in the local community

As always, we encourage you to consult with your financial advisor or tax professional to determine which giving options are best for your individual situation.

Every gift to Community Storehouse helps strengthen families and creates opportunities for children to succeed both in school and in life. Your generosity truly changes lives right here in our community.

If you have questions about making a gift through a Donor-Advised Fund, Qualified Charitable Distribution, stock transfer, or other planned giving opportunities, we would be honored to assist you.
