Wellness and Food Assistance Programs

Hunger prevention and basic hygiene needs are vital to proper growth and development of children. 20% - 25% of the children living in Keller and Northwest ISD are living below the poverty line. The Community Storehouse has been able to help address these concerns with amazing donations and support from members of our community.

Volunteers Packing Food

NUTRITIONAL CENTER - PANTRY

Food insecurity affects 20% of the children in Keller ISD and 25% in Northwest ISD.  Since the COVID impact of 2020, the number of people requesting assistance for food and personal items has increased from 25 families a week to approximately 200 a week in 2023. That is a major increase of 700%.

WEEKEND SNACK PACKS

In an effort to close the gap between opportunity and achievement for children in our community, the Community Storehouse Snack Pack Program provides these children with bags filled with kid-friendly nutritious foods at their school site. The snack packs are assembled by volunteers at the Community Storehouse Nutritional Center and delivered to school partners each week. The school staff identifies students suffering from weekend food insecurity and the Community Storehouse Snack Packs are put into their backpacks each Friday. Last year, 2022, 75,000 Snack Packs were distributed with a total of 465,000 individual snacks items.

Community Service

DIGNITY CLOSET

Our goal is to further close the gap between opportunity and achievement for our students through providing basic hygiene products to Title I schools in KISD, CISD, NISD, AISD. These schools have the highest percentage of students on the free or reduced lunch program.

Toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, combs, soap, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products are stocked for distribution to students as needed per the school counselor, nursing, and teaching staff.

BABY DIGNITY

The Community Storehouse Baby Dignity Closet Program delivers baby items (diapers, wipes, baby wash, seasonal clothing, etc.) as needed, to the Pregnancy Related Services Program Coordinators to distribute to low-income teen parents both during the school year and for the summer break.
