PROGRAMS & EVENTS

Community Storehouse relies on the support of the community as well as participation in our two annual fundraisers, the Run in the Dark and the Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow Dinner and Auction to sustain our programs. This year we estimate helping almost 6,000 children in our community.

Summer Reading Program (Camp Community Storehouse):
Kindergarten and First Grade students from KISD who receive free or reduced lunches are invited to attend the camp. The program is staffed with licensed teachers and the campis three hours a day for three weeks (M – F), with curriculum in reading, music/art and physical activity. The reading program targets to the child’s individual reading ability based on their end of year DRA score.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES for our 2010 Camp will be available in the first quarter of 2010.


Summer Lending Library Programs
Story times held twice a week for children to listen to books being read.
Storytime will run June 1 - August 25
Tuesday 5-6 pm and Wednesdays 10 - 11 am


Monitored reading times where school aged children can come in and read to themselves while a volunteer is there to watch and help as needed. Hours will be tracked and anyone reading 8 hours or more during the summer will receive an award.
