VOLUNTEER

Community Storehouse needs volunteers to assist with special programs as well as on-going programs. We need volunteers Monday-Saturday year round. 80% of staffing at Community Storehouse is provided by dedicated volunteers.

Volunteer Orientation
New volunteers are welcome to come by our office (4574 Keller-Hicks Road, Keller) any Wednesday at 4 pm to
pick up the volunteer application and take a brief tour.

Wednesday and would like to set up another time to come in.

*Volunteer orientation is not required for Special Program volunteers.

Special Programs:
Volunteers are needed to help with special programs throughout the year. This includes: Summer Lunch Program, School Supply Program, holiday food distribution at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas and toys for children at Christmas.

Summer Reading Camp Classroom Assistant

Classroom assistants needed for kindergarten and first grade in the following areas:

Prefer volunteers that can commit to a full three week session, will also accept a one week commitment.

Accepting volunteers who are organized and enjoy working with young children, and who can create and maintain a positive and cheerful environment for children.

 Summer Reading Camp Teacher Assistant

July 6 and 7 8:30am-12:30pm each day
August 3 and 4 8:30am-12:30pm each day
High school senior in August 2010 or older

Will be working with teachers (no students) to organize paperwork and student progress reports.

Summer Reading Camp Clean Up Crew

This is a great opportunity for a group.

Clean and straighten up summer reading camp facility each day at noon (empty trash, sweep, vacuum, restock toiletries). Includes 2 classrooms and 2 restrooms at our office at 212 N. Oak Street, Roanoke and 6 classrooms and 3 restrooms at church across the street. On Fridays, will need to do a thorough cleaning at church.

Summer Reading Camp Copy Person

Copy person needed for 2 hours each day (hours are flexible; we are open 9:30am-6pm).

Summer Volunteers for Community Storehouse Lending Library

June 8 to August 20, 2009, Monday through Thursday each week.

Volunteer shifts are:
9:30am-12pm
12pm-3pm
3pm-6pm

Assist children with book selection and maintaining reading log. Keep lending library neat. Minimum age to volunteer alone is15 years old. Volunteers 10-14 years old may volunteer with a parent.

Fundraisers:
Volunteers are needed for our two major fundraisers. Committees for each event work year round.

ON-GOING PROGRAMS:

Ambassador Program
Individuals comfortable speaking in public or interested in setting up an information table are needed to assist Community Storehouse. The Ambassador program serves as an outreach to civic groups, churches, schools, colleges and other groups within our community.

Donation Center Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to receive, unload and sort donated items, stocking items in Resale Shoppe and perform cashier duties. Shifts are available Monday- Friday 10:00 AM–4:30 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM-3:30 PM.

Food Pantry Volunteers
Our food pantry is located on Keller-Hicks Road in Keller. Pantry volunteers receive and shelve donated and purchased items, arrange and straighten pantry shelves, prepare food boxes, load groceries in client’s vehicle, log food donations and give receipts when needed.

Office Area Volunteers
Help answer telephones, greet and direct visitors, assist with other clerical duties as needed. Offices are open Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Friday 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM.

Resale Shoppe Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to set up displays, clean and organize the store, stock the store with donations, operate the cash register and assist customers Monday-Friday 10:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM–4:00 PM.

Driving Volunteers
Drivers with vehicles are needed to pickup food in the early mornings at local grocery stores.  Also, individuals with trucks are needed to pick up food from Tarrant County Food Bank once a week for the food pantry.

Community Storehouse Truck Drivers and Pick-up Assistants
Volunteers are needed to drive the Community Storehouse truck or ride and assist with pick-ups. Volunteers must be able to lift 50 pounds or more. Assistance needed Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

What a good lesson to teach our children: it feels good to help others! We can even give your kids a tour of our facilities so they learn more about why we reach out to certain families.
