Community Storehouse needs volunteers to assist with special programs as well as on-going programs. We need volunteers Monday-Saturday year round. 80% of staffing at Community Storehouse is provided by dedicated volunteers.
Volunteer Orientation
We request that all on-going volunteers attend Volunteer Orientation. Orientation is offered once a month at the Keller-Hicks location. It is a one-hour meeting which includes a tour of the facilities, an overview of volunteer opportunities, completion of paperwork and a chance to ask questions. Once orientation is completed, you will choose your area to volunteer and the days you would like to help.
*Volunteer orientation is not required for Special Program volunteers.
Special Programs:
Typically volunteers that help with special programs serve on a one time basis. Special programs include: Summer Lunch, School Supplies, Run in the Dark, Holiday House, Holiday Food Distribution, Dinner and Auction and client events.
ON-GOING PROGRAMS:
Ambassador Program
Individuals comfortable speaking in public or interested in setting up an information table are needed to assist Community Storehouse. The Ambassador program serves as an outreach to civic groups, churches, schools, colleges and other groups within our community.
Donation Center Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to receive, unload and sort donated items, stocking items in Resale Shoppe and perform cashier duties. Shifts are available Monday- Friday 10:00 AM–4:30 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM-3:30 PM.
Food Pantry Volunteers
Our food pantry is located on Keller-Hicks Road in Keller. Pantry volunteers receive and shelve donated and purchased items, arrange and straighten pantry shelves, prepare food boxes, load groceries in client’s vehicle, log food donations and give receipts when needed.
Office Area Volunteers
Help answer telephones, greet and direct visitors, assist with other clerical duties as needed. Offices are open Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Friday 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM.
Resale Shoppe Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to set up displays, clean and organize the store, stock the store with donations, operate the cash register and assist customers Monday-Friday 10:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday 10:00 AM–4:00 PM.
Driving Volunteers
Drivers with vehicles are needed to pickup food in the early mornings at local grocery stores. Also, individuals with trucks are needed to pick up food from Tarrant County Food Bank once a week for the food pantry.
Community Storehouse Truck Drivers and Pick-up Assistants
Volunteers are needed to drive the Community Storehouse truck or ride and assist with pick-ups. Volunteers must be able to lift 50 pounds or more. Assistance needed Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
What a good lesson to teach our children: it feels good to help others! We can even give your kids a tour of our facilities so they learn more about why we reach out to certain families.
If you have questions about volunteer opportunities or would like to sign up, contact Donna Haggerty, Volunteer Coordinator for the Community Storehouse at 817-431-3340 or haggertyd@yahoo.com.
